Hello,

For our next event let's go to The Stearman Fly-IN on Friday June 11 leave at 8:30 A.M. and return on Sunday June 13 P.M. http://www.stearmanflyin.org/index.html

This will be a overnight trip. Yes it's a tent camp out. This free campground is an easy five minute walk from the airport, and features hot showers and shady camping sites.

Here is the plan and route for Friday. I- 70 to Burlington First stop The Wonder Tower one of my favorite places to visit The Wonder Tower! Built in 1926 at the highest point between New York and Denver, was a major stop.

The owners for the past 20 years, Jerry and Ester Chubbuck, have kept the Tower alive charging one dollar for admission. Small signs at the entrance promise "Animal Monstrosities," and "Two-headed calf."

2nd Stop Burlington to Ride 1905 Carousel and visit The The Kit Carson County Carousel Museum
http://www.kitcarsoncountycarousel.com/
The carousel itself was manufactured in 1905 for Elitch Gardens, an amusement park in Denver. The carousel was operated at Elitch Gardens every summer until 1928, when it and the band organ were sold to Kit Carson County

Dinner at metropolis of Bird City, KS. Why to eat at Big Ed's Steakhouse. Big Ed's
provides one of the best steaks you'll ever eat.

ride back to St. Francis Kansas, pitch tents
and sleep till awakened by the thundering roar of a Stearman about 100'
above our heads.

Returning to Denver Saturday departing around 3 P.M. back to Denver

What Is A Stearman?
The Stearman is a fabric covered, open cockpit biplane used in World War II as a primary trainer. Many thousands were built by Boeing Aircraft before and during the war.

The Fly-In often have more than 100 aircraft at the Stearman Fly-In, including homebuilts, warbirds, ultralights, and sometimes gliders. All aircraft are welcome. And Hot air balloons

Open cockpit, with only blue skies above you and the throaty roar of a radial engine up front, this is a motorcycle ride on steroids. Everyone loves their Stearman ride, even if they are nervous at first. It's windy, fun, and nostalgic, with incredible visuals.

Strap on a reserve parachute, sign a waiver, then ride to altitude on an airplane full of happy skydivers. You'll feel like a Top Gun on the way to the jump plane. Watch the skydivers' amazingly fast exit, and now it's only you and the jump pilot left onboard to follow the jumpers two miles downhill.

This is a leisure ride and following the speed limits.

We don't care what you ride as long as you are safe, wear safety gear, and
enjoy a good lunch.

We will cancel the ride if the chance of rain for the area is 50% or more.
All events subject to weather related delay or cancellation.

Please watch our site for updates.

Thanks,
Sam
